Dear, Ema I'm so proud of all that you have accomplished! You really are an insparation to women and even though there's not a day I don't think of you, I know that you are working very hard and going to have a bright future. I can't believe you managed to get a job at the Bell aircraft factory. Is it hard? That XFM-1 is humoungous, I can't believe you are part of the creation of that plane.

I pray that James comes back safe from the war. God bless him for fighting for our country. I really do worry for everyone fighting in the war, so many soldiers have died and gotten injured, when they are back and I see the nurses aid them I can't help but turn away and cry. The war has caused nothing but poverty and pain for so many families.

Things at home have been very poor, the nights are so cold but I have been giving your father and Erica some old blankets I put a house-brick in the oven for a couple of hours, wrap it up in an old towel and place it in the sheets at the bottom of the bed, this has helped them get through the nights. I tell you its so hard to even get some sleep with all the issues that the war has caused.

Now that our garden has been drafted it seems like nothing but gravel. Money is short and all I have to offer at dinner is bread and cheese. It looks like you are taking very good care of yourself, Thank you for that it gives me one less thing to worry about because now I know that you are well off even though you are alone.

During world war 2 my grandparents were young and lived in Mexico. Although Mexico was an ally none of my family members went to war.

An advertisement for war bonds by Dr. Seuss. A complete collection of his War-time cartoons may be found in the book "Dr. Seuss Goes to War" This was propaganda to advertise people to get insurance by using Hitler as the bad guy so people will want to insure their houses.

This photo made me surprised because this propaganda was found in children's book. I never knew that Dr. Seuss was part of this. It was intresting and reminded me of an other propaganda picture I saw last year where they had books written in German and they drew Jewish people as rats to tell children that they are like rats by dehumanizing them by calling them that.

Charles Thomas was a young private of the British army during World War 2. He signed up for the army in 1939. Since returning from war he has been quite a serious and sometimes cold person as he has seen his friends killed beside him and has killed men with his bare hands.

My reaction to this soldier was that he looks like a very young man and friendly because of his genuine smile. After reading about him I was surprised of the thing that he has done and witnessed during world war two. It just comes and shows how even the young and innocent are capable of doing so much war. It reminded me of the pictures I looked at in class today of the other young soldiers who don't look like they are ready to kill.

This cartoon mocks the intentions of the Axis powers during World War II, by showing Hitler cutting the world into pieces like a cantaloupe to share with Hirohito and Mussolini.

My reaction to this photo was how they drew the charters they made them obscene and ridiculous looking because they were the villains and they make them crush the cantaloupe and represent it as the world because the picture portrays all three against the world.

1. What stands out to you most in this interview?

What stood out to me was that he dug out bodies from streets. Kurt's book is the reality of what war is yet, libraries tried censoring his work by banning his books.

He gets letters from the Soviet union apologizing for the ban of his books and that they don't ban them there.

2. What experiences led Vonnegut to write Slaughterhouse Five?

Surviving the fire bomb of Dresden. He hid in a cellar.

All of the horrific memories he had from the war. War movies and books that featured Frank Sinatra and the reality is that only innocent kids were fighting the war.

3. Prior to reading Slaughterhouse Five, what would you like to ask KV?

Was there ever a time where you hesitated before publishing this book to the public?

Consider the job, career, or typical worker in your Ampersand piece of writing. Now... rewind the clock to your parents' generation. What is life like for your typical worker in that job? What is similar to today? What is different? What is in the news? What concerns would they have? Back in my mom's day they had chalk boards and there was no internet access due to this projects took forever to work on. they would send their students to the library. It was similar in the way of now because there were both good and bad teachers and they tried meeting the curricular. Technology had grew at a rapid rate. It has improved and help teachers get more work done.

My grandma attended school in Mexico and only spent a few years at school at her time school wasnt so important. Her parents preferred that she worked but she still learned writing and reading while making money for her family at a young age. The concern at this time would how be the increase of kids attending school.

The thing that stood out on Monika's blog was Pitch #2: Research article on how prices are going up because certain fabrics like cotton and how people are reducing to “cheaper” fabrics. This stood out to me because I think readers would be interested on how prices in China are affecting the USA. She can turn this into a really informative article. She can do tis by looking up facts on prices, like how they have decreased as the years have gone by.

My favorite pitch on Kadija's article was I'm thinking about doing one on a cat's/dog's POV. As how they feel once they come into the hospital. Scared, worried, whatever. I think this would be a cute idea because not many people actually do think about how pets feel. I think that she can get readers to be like oh I never thought about that, and she can tell readers about her experience with handling pets.

This pitch stood out to me 1. People work in society. In some instances, people tend to be more "robotic" than human in their work. They work, coming to and fro, almost like bees, buzzing along and working for the hive. Here is a point of view from an intern working with insects, and what he says looks alike between bees and the human race. I really liked this because honestly I think it would be boring to read about working with bugs because its such a boring topic, like bugs really? you see them everywhere and they are just pesty insects. But Tomas made his headline interesting.

Write out three "pitches" for three different Ampersand articles that you might write for this year's publication.

1. I can write about how one of the teachers encouraged me into giving me a more brighter perspective of becoming a teacher. I really want to focus on this more in depth because she told me that I have good qualities that a teacher needs. We talked for a long time and she told me about how she helped create the eco lab in the school so she has been around a lot and I told her about the previous books we made in class and about ampersand.

2. Being more independent rather than constantly asking my mentor for help. A lot of times I took initative and I started my work before waiting for my instructor and I did what I thought was needed.

3. My experience at the teacher's lounge. I want to talk about how some of the teacers were neagtive and bitter about their jobs/
